For anyone wondering if Politics A-level would be the right choice for you, in the run up to the end of term the
Year 12 Politics students have shared their anonymous opinions on their experience thus far.
One term in, it looks like the vast majority of Year 12 Politics students are enjoing it, and looking to finish the whole course.
For almost 80% of the students, Politics is in our top 2 favourite A-levels.
Whilst different areas of the course might inevitably be more interesting to different people, most people find Politics lessons engaging and interesting. We cover the US and UK sides of the course simultaneously in Year 12, meaning the content you learn in a week is often very varied.
Politics can lead to many humanities-based degrees, but is particularly useful to prepare you for studying International Relations, Law, History, Economics, and of course Politics.
In Year 12 you have a different teacher for each sides of the course, and study each country's system individually, as well as comparing them. In Year 13 you also study a section on political ideologies.
Thank you to the Year 12 Politics students for sharing their thoughts, and we hope this has been useful for anyone thinking about A-level choices at the moment!
I did Politics A Level at Highgate. I believe Mr Amat taught me amongst others. It is great to see that the enjoyment of it is still as strong as I remember it being. Once you are engaged then you can't go back; it will always grip you, especially in these interesting times.
