What is History of Art A level really like?

As we get closer to the end of our first term of Year 12, the History of Art students have filled out an anonymous survey to share their first impressions about the subject, in hopes that it will help anyone considering taking the A level. So, what is History of Art A level really like?

Considering we have only done one term of History of Art, it is encouraging to see that no one believes they will end up dropping the subject. It is obvious that the subject is enjoyed.

We only have 7 people in our class. It is a lovely environment; we all get on well.

The course covers a wide range of art from all over the world, and we study different types of visual art (painting, architecture and sculpture) which makes the lessons interesting and surprising because of the variety of the subject matter we study.

Since we are at the top of Dyne House, it gets very cold. The history of art teachers kindly bought blankets for DH43, which we use for the coldest days.

At the very beginning of the school year, we got to know each other through painting with different materials and using different techniques in order to understand the difficulty of the practice, and it allowed us to admire painters even more than we already did.
